9500Assigning Certification Periods

Normal certification periods will be assigned to households certified on an expedited basis when the household has provided necessary verification of all eligibility factors and complied with the SSN and work registration requirements. See FSC 8700 for instructions on assigning certification periods.

When an expedited application is filed by the 15th of the month, is approved, and verification is postponed per FSC 9441.1, a one-month certification period will be assigned.

When an expedited application is filed after the 15th of the month, is approved, and verification is postponed per FSC 9441.1, the following actions must be completed.

1.Assign a two-month certification period.

2.At certification, furnish the household with another Food Stamp Application (DCO-220) to be completed and submitted to the county office. Also furnish a Notice of Expiration (DCO-239) stating the date by which the household may timely file for recertification. (This date is the 15th of the second month.)

3.Advise the household via Notice of Delayed Application, (DCO-206), of the information the household must furnish to meet the postponed requirements - (e.g., furnish verification of income).

4.Process the second application after all postponed requirements have been met. No second interview will be required. A normal certification period will be assigned.

When a household is certified after the 15th of the month under the expedited procedures, the household will receive an aggregate allotment. See FSC 8651 for the instructions for authorizing aggregate allotments.
