General

The IIS works very well with heitml. All you need to do is to install heitml after installing the IIS. You might need to deinstall heitml if you did it in the wrong order. The heitml setup program will take care of everything else.

For the IIS we however recommend to use the ISAPI version of heitml. It uses another interface rather then the CGI interface and so is much faster than the CGI version of heitml.

Restarting the Server

After Installation of heitml you need to restart the web server using the MS Internet Service Manager. Perform the following steps:

  • Start the MS Internet Service Manager.
  • Open the server for which you want to restart the WWW service.
  • If the traffic light for WWW is green, click the right mouse button, choose 'Stop' and wait until the traffic light becomes red.
  • Now the traffic light for WWW should be red. Click the right mouse button and choose 'Start'. After a while the traffic light should become green.

Creating new Virtual Directories or Servers

Using the MS Internet Service Manager, you can create new virtual directories and servers that are shown in the WWW.

Creating virtual directories (roots)

You want to add a virtual directory or server '/customer' and the directory on the hard disk is 'C:\customers\customer\wwwroot'. Perform the following steps:

  • Start MS Internet Service Manager.
  • Open the server for which you want to add the virtual root or server.
  • If the traffic light for WWW is red, click the right mouse button, choose 'Start' and wait until the traffic light becomes green.
  • Double-click on WWW, choose the 'Directories' Tab. Be sure that you checked the 'Enable Default Document' box and that the comma separated list in the 'Default Document' form field contains 'index.hei'. Click button 'Add'. In the Directory form field type in 'C:\customers\customer\wwwroot'. If you want to setup a virtual directory under your web server, click the radio button 'Virtual Directory' and then type '/customer' in the Alias form field.
  • Be sure that the in the Access group box, the Read and Execute boxes are both checked. Click 'Apply' and 'OK'.

Creating virtual servers

You want to add a virtual server with IP address 'cus.tom.er.ip' and the directory on the hard disk is 'C:\customers\customer\wwwroot'.

  • Click the radio button 'Home Directory', check the 'Virtual Server' box and type in the customer's IP address 'cus.tom.er.ip'). Note that you have to add this IP address to the TCP/IP protocol configuration with the Network application in Control Panel.
