Why a BSW?
A Baccalaureate of Social Work is the only undergraduate degree
for which licensing is available for work with children, families,
individuals, groups, or communities.
Graduation from a Council on Social Work Education * (CSWE) accredited
social work program with a BSW allows graduates to apply for licensure in
Arkansas and other states as a Licensed Social Worker (LSW).
An LSW is required for many types of employment in varied settings and
often results in increased salary.
A BSW from a CSWE*-accredited program is required for advanced
standing in the Masters of Social Work program in Arkansas and other
states.
Statement of Non-Discrimination The Bacclaureate of Social Work
program at Southern Arkansas University, Magnolia, recruits, hires, educates, trains,
and promotes the most qualified applicants and students, without regard to
race, color, religion, gender, age, national origin, disability, political
affiliation, or sexual orientation.
* The Arkansas Department of Higher Education has
granted permission for SAU to begin the BSW program in August of 1998 and
to apply for CSWE accreditation.
