Starting at 7 p.m., enjoy a fine meal at Williams Tavern Restaurant before an evening of entertainment. This orginal drama Romantic Albert Pike - Romantic Realist will be presented on Friday and Saturday evenings on stage at the 1874 Courthouse.

Jonquil Festival

March 7-9

This three day festival heralds the coming of spring to Southwest Arkansas. Thousands of bright yellow jonquils that have been here for over 150 years welcome the craftspeople entertainers and visitors that pour into Old Washington Historic State Park. This arts and crafts festival draws approximat y 60,000 people annually. Many crafted item and delicious foods are available from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Arkansas Heritage Week

May 8-18

 

Special tours about the architecture of the structures of Old Washington will be available throughout the week.

A reduced tour fee of $3 per adult and $1.50 per child 6 - 12 years old will provide access to these guided tours.


Armed Forces Weekend

May 16, 17 & 18

Seminars on the effects of military activity on the Washington area from the Native American conflicts, War of 1812, Civil War, World War I and II. Miniature soldier enthusiasts will show their skiliflilly crafted and painted miniatures and will conduct war games in the 1940 gym. Military reenactors will be present. Seminars, reenactors and miniature soldier activities

10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Free.


Trial by Jury

July 11, 12 & 13

Experience the dramatic rehearing of an actual case from the 1800's in the restored 1836 Courth. Dinner at the Williams Tavern and the Trial by Jury experience will be at 7 p.mt 9 p.m. on Friday and Saturday

A Sunday matinee (no meal included) will be at 2 p.m. for $12.

CivilWar Weekend

September 5, 6 & 7

Cavalry, infantry and cannons converge on Old Washington for three days. Hundreds of Civil War reenact6rs from all over the United States meet to relive the daily camp life, conflicts and challenges of the Civil War. The public is invited to come and experience the challenges of that time.School programs are on Friday. Activities begin at dawn on Saturday and continue until 3 p.m. Sunday.

There is a $1 spectator (6 years and up) fee for the exciting 1 p.m. baffle on Sunday. All other activities are free.


Civil War Vignettes and Camp Supper

September 6

From 5:30 to 7:3Q p.m. join the troops for a camp supper behind the Williams' Tavern. At 7:30, you will enjoy fourexciting tales from the Civil War in the 1940 WPA Cym.

$10 per person.


Women of Washington Dinner Drama and Matinee

Sept.26, 27 & 28

The Friday and Saturday dinner is at 7 p.m. in the Williams' Tavern followed by an original historical drama about five very important women of Washington.

Reservations are required. $17.50 each.

The matinee (meal not included) will be presented at 2p.m. on

Sunday. $10 each.


Historic Preservation Symposium

October 22- 24

This three day symposium draws experts in the field of historicpreservation to share their knowledge in history and historic buildings, use of the Internet, teaching history and social studies, development ofhistoric landscapes and much more.

Pre-registration required: $110 if received on or before Oct. 11th. $120 after Oct. 11th.

Meals and evening entertainment included.


Frontier Days

October 25-26

Step back into the mid-nineteenth century during this flin and educational weekend. Learn how to make lye soap, watch glassblowers and blacksmiths at work, dip a candle, see tin soldiers being made and enjoy many different demonstrations. Meet pioneers and Native Americans in a wilderness camp. Purchase a lunch in Old Washington Historic State Park's Old Town and enjoy our for planned entertainment.

$2 adults and $1 for 0-12.

Tickets are good both days 9 a.m.to 5 p.m.


Designers Workshop

November 15 & 22 Christmas

From 10 a.m to 2 p.m., learn hands-on techniques from professional decorators increating swags, bows,. wreaths and floral arrangements. Each participant will be able to make and take home a project of their choice. Lunch is included in these workshops. Limited space available.

Christmas and Candlelight

December 6

From 4 to 8 p.m., Southwest Arkansas' premier Christmas event showcasesOld Washington Historic State Park at its loveliest. The entire park is decoratedwith natural nineteenth century decorations and thousands of luminaries light the way for guests to stroll the historic streets. Guides are stationed in eachbuilding and home within the park, and musicians and minstrels perform in the churches. Presented by Southwest Arkansas Regional Archives (S.A.R.A.)in conjunction with Old Washington Historic State Park, this event is theprime fund-ralser for S.A.R.A.

An Evening of Holiday Entertainment

December 9

A cooperative effort between Southwest Arkansas Arts Council and Old Washington Historic State Park, this evening promisesgreat rewards! At 6:30 p.m., enjoy a very special dinner at Williams' Tavern Restaurant before an evening of traditional holiday music and dramatic entertainment is presented at the 1889 Presbyterian Church.

Tales of Washington

December 12 & 13

At 7 p.m., enjoy a special meal at the Williams' Tavern restaurant and then travel back in time to visit three restored structures of Washinginton You will meet "residents the 1800's" as they relate tales of their time.
